Welcome to our October Wellness Challenge: Prevention & Screening

ree

We’re kicking off October with a challenge that can make a real, lasting difference: Prevention & Screening. All month long, we’ll focus on the simple steps you can take—from home—to stay ahead of health problems, catch issues early, and feel your best. Everything in this challenge is online, self-paced, and designed to fit your life. Join us, invite a friend, and let’s make October the month we prioritize our future selves.

Why prevention (and why now)?

Preventive care isn’t just about checkups; it’s about catching small issues before they become big ones. Screenings and wellness visits help you know your numbers (like blood pressure and cholesterol), understand your personal risk, and make informed choices. October is also a big month for awareness around screenings—so it’s the perfect time to get yours on the calendar.

This month’s challenge (simple + doable)

Main Challenge: Schedule one age-appropriate screening or wellness check this month. That could be an annual physical, dental cleaning, eye exam, mammogram, colon cancer screening, or a blood pressure check—whatever is right for you.

Add-On: Pink + Produce Week—eat cruciferous veggies (think broccoli, kale, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower) 3 times in one week this month. They’re versatile, affordable, and delicious roasted, sautéed, or tossed into salads and soups.

How it works (all online!)

  • Sign up for the challenge emails.

  • Follow the weekly prompts we send—each includes a short read or video and a tiny action step.

  • Pick your screening and book it this month (telehealth counts if it’s appropriate).

  • Track your Pink + Produce week with a simple tally: ✔️✔️✔️ for three cruciferous meals.

  • Celebrate your win at month’s end—because momentum matters.

Your weekly roadmap

Week 1: Build your prevention plan

We’ll help you identify which screenings make sense for your age and health status and how to schedule them from home.

Week 2: Cancer screenings 101

A clear, plain-language guide to who needs what—and when—so you can make the call or click the portal with confidence.

Week 3: Know your numbers

Learn how to check blood pressure at home, what “good” looks like, and how vaccines fit into prevention.

Week 4: Pink + Produce week

Three easy cruciferous recipes, plus tips for shopping, storing, and seasoning.

What you’ll need

  • Your phone or computer to read the weekly email and schedule appointments online.

  • A calendar (digital or paper) to pick a date—grab the nearest open slot and block it.

  • A grocery list with cruciferous go-tos: bagged slaw mix, frozen broccoli, or a bunch of kale.

  • Optional: A home blood pressure cuff (many pharmacies carry affordable options) to learn your numbers.

Tips to make it stick

  • Book now, decide details later. Snag the appointment first; you can move it if needed.

  • Buddy up. Share this challenge with a friend or family member and check in once a week.

  • Keep it visible. Put your screening date on the fridge or set a phone reminder.

  • Batch cook. Roast a sheet pan of broccoli/Brussels on Sunday and you’re two meals ahead.

A gentle note

Screening guidelines can vary with your personal and family history. Use this challenge as a nudge to start the conversation with your clinician and tailor it to you.

You’re in? Great! Watch for our Week 2 email, choose one screening to schedule, and plan your Pink + Produce meals. Let’s make prevention simple—and doable—from the comfort of home.
