JUICING FOR BEGINNERS

About:  Juicing is a tasty way to enrich your body with essential vitamins and minerals, which can boost your energy, kick-start your metabolism, and set you on the path to wellness. Juicing for Beginners is your comprehensive workshop, with several easy recipes and all the nutritional information you need to get started. In simple, practical steps, you’ll learn the ins and outs of detoxes, cleanses, and healthy smoothies, along with profiles on the revitalizing properties of key juicing ingredients.

Limit: 10 seats available per class

When: We repeat this class once a month. 

Tuesdays: May 17, July 13, September 13, November 22 at 3:30pm

Sundays: April 24, June 26, August 28, October 30 at 2pm

Length: 1:15 hours

Instructor: Cristina Macena, is a Nutrition Educator and Natural Juice Therapy Practitioner. She has been juicing for the last 15 years and has prepared many juices for the people who come to the Urban Life Center Juice Bar!

WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP SEMINARS

About:  Dream it, believe it, do it! Goal Setters, Dream Achievers - Women in Leadership was developed by the Urban Life Center and is designed to build on a woman’s inherent talents and strengths. The skills you learn here will help you become more effective, more confident and more successful.

TRANSITION TO A PLANT-BASED DIET

About: : Learning to cook a plant-based meal is easier than ever before. Plant-based cooking is easy, affordable and fun! Classes will teach you the basics of a plant-based diet and how to cook wholesome, delicious food! From breakfast to main courses to desserts!

When: This workshop is offered on different dates throughout the year:  June 7, August 9, October 4, December 6, 2022

CONVERSATIONAL SPANISH FOR BEGINNERS

About: Do you want to take your influence and business further?  Learning how to speak and have conversations in Spanish will do just that!  In this course, you will learn the building blocks for speaking Spanish, including grammar, tenses, conjugations, and more.

NATURAL LIFESTYLE COOKING CLASS

About: With thousands of unique recipes and fun ways to prepare food, a plant-based diet is not restricted to tofu and salad. Natural Lifestyle Cooking Class provides a low-cost, training course filled with cooking demos, up-to-date information on diet crazes, and much more. Improving your health through simple, natural cooking is the emphasis of this dynamic educational experience.

Leader: Connie Goedert-Edwards, Connie Goedert-Edwards, Earned  her  Plant Based Nutrition Certificate through T Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies, who believes that healthy food should taste delicious and easy to make. Connie, a former YOYO dieter has lost 50 pounds on a plant based  diet and kept it off for more than 6 years. She loves sharing what she has learned and has been conducting cooking classes for the past 6 years.

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE FOR BEGINNERS 

About: Join a small group of peers and our instructor to level up your skills! Designed for students who English is their second language. Students will learn basic vocabulary, verb tenses, and be on a path to learning how to speak and read to carry on sentence dialog.

When: Tuesdays & Thursdays

Starting Date: CLASS I: May 10 to July 5, 2022. CLASS II: September 6 to December 6, 2022.

HEALTHY HABITS FOR LIFE - MOMMY & ME GROUP

About: Here’s a fun-filled, hands-on group to help you and your children find ways
to get moving and make healthy food choices along with other parents and their kids. You’ll enjoy tons of activities, games, poems and songs, dances, and ways to include learning
about healthy choices into your everyday routines.

Type: Mommy & Me group (circle time)

Limit: 10 seats available

Ages: 0-3 year-olds (and mom)

PREVENTING TYPE 2 DIABETES - A HEALTHIER YOU

About: Stress is the body’s response to a challenge or demand. Everyone experiences stress, which can be triggered by a range of events, from small daily hassles to major changes like a divorce or job loss. The stress response includes physical components such an elevated heart rate and blood pressure, thoughts and personal beliefs about the stressful event, and emotions, including fear and anger. Although we often think of it as being negative, stress can also come from positive changes in your life, like getting a promotion at work or having a new baby. While no one can avoid all stress, you can learn to handle it in healthy ways that increase your potential to recover. Dr. Shakes will guide you on this journey of emotional recovery.

SCREENING OF THE DOCUMENTARY WHAT THE HEALTH?

About: Join us for a tasty meal and a showing of the eye-opening documentary What the Health?. Watch as the filmmaker reveals the secret to preventing and reversing chronic diseases and investigates why many of the nation’s leading health organizations do not want us to know about it. Stick around for a Questions and Answer session after the film.

URBAN LIFE 5K RUN

The Urban Life Center 5K is a run/walk organized to raise funds for our Urban Life Center in Baltimore and to help its projects to serve the community in the area. In September 18, 2022, runners, youth, and families are invited to run/walk a 5K with us. Register, and support this awesome project in the heart of Eastern Ave in Baltimore!
