STUDENT PROGRAMS OVERVIEW

  All Student Progams include an orientation designed to get you familiar with the city's key cultures and communities, your neighborhood, public transportation and street smarts. Within a couple of weeks you'll be more familiar with Chicago than most residents!  
  Academic Semester
  Spring Semester January 31 - May 9, 2007 Fall Semester August 29 - Dec. 5, 2007
 

Earn up to 16 credit hours

Spend three days a week in a professional internship, study the issues of race, class, culture and art in the "Chicago Communities and Cultures Seminar" (1 day a week) and complete a hands-on research project in your field with the "Directed Study" (1 day a week) More about this term

Fees: 1. Register for credit on your campus and pay your semester tuition there, or enroll as a 'Guest Student' of Millikin University and pay tuition to Millikin or enroll as an audit student (no credit) and pay $4,500 audit fee to Chicago Center;; 2. Chicago Center Program Fee for housing, books, cultural events, transit pass is $3,980, 3. $50 refundable cleaning deposit, 4. $300 City Activity Fee (out-of-pocket money for program-related events)
  January Term
  January 3 - 24, 2007
 

3 -4 credit hours

Spend three weeks exploring and learning about Chicago while engaging in a three-day-a-week placement practicum pertinent to your major (any and all majors!).

  TeachChicago! Student Teaching

Meet the certification requirements of your college and state by completing your student teaching in Chicago, under the supervision and mentorship of our experienced staff. Our careful selection of school placements gives every student teacher the experience of teaching in a diverse environment while a weekly education seminar offers support and preparation for quality teaching.

Meet your state certification requirements at Chicago Center's BSW Practicum Semester. Our social work placements are extroidinary - ranging from refugee & immigrant services, to working with people with HIV/AIDS, to community organizing. Our program includes a weekly BSW Seminar to offer you mentorship and professional development. Make a difference and jump start your career while living in the global village of Chicago!
